In February 2023, Mitsubishi Motors Middle East And Africa FZE (MMMEA) carried out the plastic recycling activity in collaboration with DGrade (an award-winning Plastic Recycling company in the UAE).
MMMEA's Business Innovation Department took the initiative to launch the first in-house plastic recycling campaign, with the goal of reducing the environmental footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future.
The plastic collected from MMMEA (employees) is recycled by DGrade into high-quality flake, to produce polyester yarn, which to create polo shirt, T-shirts or other daily-use products, and recycled packaging, prior to being sold.
The plastic pollution is indeed an ongoing global concern, and many areas/countries including the UAE are heavily polluted with plastic waste. It is reported that 80 percent of plastic water bottles end up in landfill.
MMMEA took this opportunity to introduce the implementation of the 3-R model (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle) across MMMEA wherever possible, along with the end vision to have ZERO Single-use Plastic at MMMEA.
